FAQs About Lift Kits
What is a lift kit?
A lift kit raises your vehicle’s ride height by replacing and upgrading suspension components. This provides more ground clearance, better off-road performance, and an enhanced stance.
Do I need a lift kit?
If you go off-road, tow regularly, or carry heavy loads, a lift kit can improve performance, safety, and comfort. Many owners also choose a lift for the improved look and ability to run larger tyres.
Is a lift kit the same as a GVM upgrade?
No. A lift kit raises the height of your vehicle, while a GVM upgrade increases the legal maximum weight it can carry. At CTO Industries, we can combine both services depending on your needs.
Will a lift kit affect my warranty or insurance?
While our upgrades are fully engineered and ADR-approved, so your vehicle remains 100% legal, insurable, and compliant with Australian standards. Some manufacturers or dealers can use this as a point of contention, though as per ACCC (consumer law) they can only deny a warranty if the failed part is due to the modifications made.
I.E: They cannot deny a warranty for a faulty infotainment system because you have a GVM upgrade. They also cannot deny a warranty if they offer the same product, such as GMSV offering a GVM upgrade to the same rating.
In the case of insurance, we provide the proper documentation for you to supply them with and in most cases if you have notified them of the changes/upgrades you will be covered. Though for full peace of mind we recommend contacting your specific insurer to check what they require to ensure you are covered as intended.
How high can I lift my truck?
Most of our lift kits range from 2 inches up to 5 inches. The right height depends on your intended use, tyre size, and legal requirements. This can include engineering for the lift height if required.
Can I run larger tyres with a lift kit?
Yes. A lift kit provides extra clearance to run larger tyres, which can improve off-road performance and overall stance. Though there are still limits, as when you compress the suspension the wheel moves into the wheel well and if not properly clearance can cause interference with inner guard liners. We’ll advise the best setup for your truck.
