Chevrolet 2500 HD Silverado with 37’s – Engineered, Tidy & Built to Drive Properly

When you’re building a heavy-duty American truck, there’s a fine line between tough and overdone.

Too little and it feels unfinished.
Too much and it becomes impractical.

This Chev 2500 HD came into CTO Industries with a simple brief:

  • Fit 37’s

  • Ride great

  • Keep it engineered

  • Make it look tough

  • Don’t overcomplicate it

Nothing outrageous.
Nothing excessive.
Just quality gear, installed properly.

And that’s exactly what we delivered.

With premium components supplied by our mates at Ekopod, this build proves that when you choose the right parts and take the time to engineer everything correctly, you can have stance, performance and compliance — all in one package.

The Goal: 37s Without Compromise

Image: This is the image of a Chev 2500 HD with 37 inch tyres BDS lift and KMC wheels supplied through Ekopod

Fitting 37-inch tyres to a Chev 2500 HD instantly changes the truck’s presence.

It adds:

  • Height

  • Clearance

  • Aggression

  • Road presence

  • Capability

But here’s what most people don’t see behind the scenes:

37s also affect:

  • Steering geometry

  • Brake feel

  • Ride quality

  • Driveline angles

  • Tyre wear

  • Legal compliance

You can’t just bolt on big tyres and hope for the best — especially on a heavy-duty American platform.

The goal for this build was clear:

✔ Properly engineered
✔ Clean fitment
✔ Drives confidently
✔ Looks balanced
✔ Stays compliant

That’s the difference between a quick build and a properly executed one.

Suspension: BDS 3” Lift with FOX 2.5 HTO Shocks

Image: This is the image of FOX 2.5 HTO shock absorber installed on a Chev 2500 HD with BDS 3 inch lift kit

Suspension is the backbone of any 37-inch build.

If you get this wrong, nothing else matters.

For this 2500 HD, we installed a BDS 3-inch lift kit, paired with FOX 2.5 HTO shocks — a combination that delivers clearance, strength and controlled ride quality.

Why a 3-Inch Lift?

On a heavy-duty truck like the 2500 HD, more lift doesn’t always mean better.

A 3-inch lift provides:

  • Proper clearance for 37s

  • Maintained steering geometry

  • Stable driveline angles

  • Improved travel

  • Functional stance

Going higher can introduce unnecessary complications. Keeping it at 3 inches ensures the truck remains balanced and usable — not top-heavy or awkward.

The Importance of BDS Suspension

BDS has built a reputation for engineering suspension systems that don’t just lift a truck — they correct geometry.

That matters on a 2500.

The kit includes heavy-duty brackets and components designed to:

  • Maintain alignment range

  • Support increased load

  • Handle towing demands

  • Deliver long-term durability

On a platform this size, cutting corners simply isn’t an option.

FOX 2.5 HTO Shocks – Where Ride Quality Is Won

The difference between a lifted truck that feels harsh and one that feels planted often comes down to shocks.

The FOX 2.5 HTO shocks on this build provide:

  • Increased oil capacity

  • Improved heat management

  • Superior damping control

  • Reduced fade under load

  • Balanced rebound and compression

Heavy-duty trucks carry weight. They tow. They see long highway runs.

You need a shock that can manage that mass — especially when paired with 37-inch tyres.

With the FOX 2.5 HTO setup, this 2500 doesn’t feel floaty or unsettled. It feels composed. Predictable. Controlled.

That’s what quality suspension feels like.

Engineered for 37s on NB1 Compliance

Image: This is the image of a Chev 2500 HD with KMC 552 wheels and Yokohama Geolandar X AT 37 inch tyres fitted by CTO Industries

Anyone can fit 37s.

But can they engineer them?

This build was engineered for 37-inch tyres under NB1 compliance — meaning the modifications are documented, legal and properly certified.

Why does that matter?

Because without engineering:

  • Insurance can be void

  • Roadworthiness can be questioned

  • Liability increases

  • Resale value drops

Engineering ensures:

✔ Legal compliance
✔ Proper documentation
✔ Peace of mind
✔ Safe road use

When you’re modifying a heavy-duty American truck in Australia, compliance isn’t optional — it’s essential.

Wheels: KMC 552 – 18x9 +18

Wheel choice is critical on a 37-inch setup.

Too aggressive an offset and you’ll deal with:

  • Guard interference

  • Increased scrub radius

  • Heavy steering

  • Premature wear

Too conservative and the truck won’t achieve the stance it deserves.

This 2500 now sits on KMC 552 wheels in 18x9 +18 — a balanced spec that delivers:

  • Proper track width

  • Clean fitment

  • Guard clearance

  • Strong load rating

  • Aggressive but practical stance

The +18 offset keeps everything aligned correctly without pushing the limits unnecessarily.

The result is a truck that looks tough without looking forced.

Tyres: Yokohama Geolandar X-AT G016 – 37x12.5R18

Big tyres need to perform, not just look impressive.

We fitted Yokohama Geolandar X-AT G016 tyres in 37x12.5R18 — a hybrid all-terrain tyre that balances off-road capability with on-road comfort.

Key advantages:

  • Reinforced sidewalls

  • Excellent traction on mixed terrain

  • Controlled highway noise

  • High load capacity

  • Strong durability

On a heavy-duty truck, tyre choice is everything. Poor tyre selection can make even the best suspension feel rough.

Matched with the BDS and FOX setup, these 37s deliver a surprisingly refined driving experience.

AMP PowerStep Electric Running Boards

Let’s be honest — a lifted 2500 on 37s is tall.

To keep daily usability intact, we installed AMP PowerStep electric running boards.

These boards:

  • Automatically deploy when doors open

  • Retract cleanly when closed

  • Maintain ground clearance

  • Keep the side profile tidy

They make entry and exit easy without compromising the truck’s rugged appearance.

It’s one of those upgrades that makes a big difference in everyday life.

The Final Details: Alignment, TPMS & Road Testing

Image: This is the image of a Chev 2500 HD rear angle showing 37 inch Yokohama tyres and engineered suspension upgrade by CTO Industries

Every CTO Industries build finishes the same way — properly.

This 2500 received:

✔ Full wheel alignment
✔ Road test
✔ TPMS refit
✔ Tyre balance and fitment

With 37s, balancing is critical. A poor balance on tyres this size can lead to:

  • Steering vibration

  • Uneven wear

  • Highway instability

Alignment ensures:

  • Straight tracking

  • Proper tyre longevity

  • Predictable steering response

No build leaves our workshop without being dialled in completely.

How It Drives

The real test of any build is behind the wheel.

Big tyres. Lift kit. Heavy-duty platform.

Does it still drive well?

Yes.

Because it wasn’t overcomplicated.

The truck now feels:

  • Stable at highway speeds

  • Planted through corners

  • Controlled under braking

  • Confident on rough roads

  • Comfortable for daily use

It maintains the solid, confident feel a 2500 should have — just with added capability and presence.

That’s how it should be.

Why Simple Builds Often Win

There’s a trend toward extreme builds — massive lifts, oversized offsets, flashy components.

But the smartest builds are often the cleanest ones.

This Chev 2500 HD proves that:

  • A quality 3-inch lift

  • Proper shocks

  • Correct offset wheels

  • Engineered 37s

  • Professional alignment

…is all you need to create a truck that looks aggressive and drives properly.

No unnecessary complications. No gimmicks.

Just quality gear.

Thinking About 37s on Your Chev 2500?

Before you commit, ask yourself:

  • Is the suspension engineered properly?

  • Is the tyre load rating correct?

  • Is the wheel offset balanced?

  • Is it compliant and certified?

  • Will it still drive comfortably?

At CTO Industries, we build vehicles around how they’re actually used — whether that’s touring, towing, work or daily driving.

A 37-inch build can absolutely drive great.

It just needs to be done right.

The Outcome

Drives great.
Looks tough.
Does its job.

That’s a win in our books.

This Chev 2500 HD now has:

✔ Engineered 37-inch tyres
✔ BDS 3-inch lift
✔ FOX 2.5 HTO shocks
✔ KMC 552 wheels
✔ Yokohama Geolandar X-AT tyres
✔ AMP PowerStep running boards
✔ Professional alignment and road testing

A clean, tidy build that delivers both presence and performance.
